Mirror Teller

Nrat-Tuan, 12th century Post Imperium: The Mirror Teller is the predictor of those events on Nrat-Tuan which concern people; the Presentimentor predicts the future of everything else. A Mirror Teller's Robe is always decorated with the representation of a particular sea creature- not unlike an exotic sting ray- which anthropologists believe to be endowed with psionic properties, and to be used in some way, as an aid to prediction. This is not by any means conclusive, since it is extremely difficult to carry out investigative studies on Nrat-Tuan. The inhabitants tend to avoid contact, and are adept at blending into the landscape, itself a mass of shifting colours and light, which is very confusing to Earth-trained perceptions. The Nrati-Tuan who attend the Court are generally secretive, evading attempts to question them with consummate skill, and keeping to their quarters for much of their time on Irusaq. It is certain however that the Mirror Teller is a person of high repute on Nrat-Tuan, because we know that silver-grey Robes denote very high office. Just what he, or she specifically does, is, and possibly never will be, known. It is known however, that there is a form of telepathy called "wavesense", and that this is, in some way, invoked by the reflections of a mirror. Certainly the Robe's breastplate is highly mirrored, perhaps a confirmation of the name of the office, and the process of prediction?
