Cat Mummies
Cast handmade cotton paper, acrylic paint. These came about because I did a workshop with papermaker Kathy Nix, on plant papers, during which I tested the casting properties of all the plants we used by casting tiny cats' heads. So naturally, I thought of mummies. I made the moulds for the cases [which open] with modelling clay, then plaster casts. I used laminate paper casting which will take very fine detail, gessoed the outside and inside and then painted them. They are very tiny.
