First Shaman to the Bird God

Iboriis- 12th Century Post Imperium: Iboriis is a primitive, animistic planet, only admitted to the Imperium because it is the only source of Wave-stones, which fall on Iboriis intermittently in the course of its irregular orbit around a red star on the galaxy's perimeter. Wave-stones are used by the Nrati-Tuan in their religion, and are highly valued. It is also politic to keep an eye on the Iboriisi because of their propensity for violent warfare. The major religion on Iboriis is the worship of the savage Bird-God. Sacrifice to the god is believed to ensure some sort of regularity in the harvest, [the planet's position and orbit make prediction of seasons virtually impossible], so that a series of shamans control the sacrifice, and therefore, the planet. Delegates to the Imperium wear Robes of hide, feathers, and a sort of felt, decorated with amulets, shell knives, trade currency, and other objects of magic. The first shaman usually wears, on his back, a huge mask of the God, but in this particular Robe he simply uses the Sign Disc of the God; very sacred representations of the practise of 'Stranger Gift'. This custom, originally thought to be the giving of gifts to strangers, was later discovered to be, in fact, the practice of giving strangers to the Bird God, for the purpose of augury----predicting the crops.
