Map of Irusaq

Irusaq,10th Century Post Imperium: This is one of the official maps of the area covered by the Imperium of the 10th Century. It shows the capital, Intun, and the Robemaster's fortress. Surrounding the city and fortress are rich grass savannah where the three-horned pack animals and riding beasts are reared by the descendents of the old fighting nomads. All transport is by animal or boat, so the nomads became rich and pwerful, although they still don't have representation at the Court: a sore point, and one which at the time and even today, leads to conflict between city and plains dwellers. The top of the map shows part of a great range of mountains - the source of rich mineral deposits, and the home of the Forest People who still live semi-secret lives in the hidden alpine rainforests, only to emerge for the trade of medicines and dyestuffs. Most of the mining villages cluster round the foothills, and are constantly at risk from marauding wild animals, in particular the dreaded Irupun - the wolves of Irusaq. The Irisaqi at this time had not yet discovered the far Northern Deep Fisher peoples, nor the vast Southern domain of Ssisao, but the map is nevertheless one of the more special historical charts, and is kept in the extensive library of the Archives.
